So, I’m not dead. I know I haven’t updated here in awhile. Life has been distracting over the past few years. Specifically my day job has been distracting: a time and energy consuming mass that makes days and weeks disappear in the blink of an eye.
But I’m getting back on track. I’m writing more regularly again. I’m focusing on finishing short fiction, submitting it to markets, and following my passion.
As a part of that, I’ve started a new side project in the form of a blog on one of my favorite subjects. The Retrofuturist is where I will collect all the artifacts of the past that I discover. If you’re not familiar with the concept, retrofuturism is visions of the future from the past. Most often it’s seen in images and videos passed around online (pinned or tweeted or tumbled) like magazine covers or vintage advertisements or even books that featured visions of the technological wonders that were to come. Many of them never came to fruition, like jet packs, robotic companions, or flying cars, so all we’re left with are these retro-visions.
The blog will be regularly updated with vintage artifacts as well as highlighting new art, fiction, videos, and other works in the retrofuturist genre.
Check out The Retrofuturist if you’re interested. Also, I promise I’ll be updating here more regularly, so stay tuned.
